Disc
Replacement
People suffering from disc
degeneration in their spinal columns can have chronic pain in the back or
neck. Most of these patients are treated without surgery using
anti-inflammatory medicines, physical therapy and injections. Most
patients will respond to the non-surgical therapeutic methods favorably,
but some of them continue to have pain. The chronic nature of this sever
discomfort often interferes with the ability to work and to participate in
everyday activities.
Consequently, surgical treatment such
as disc replacement can be necessary. One artificial disc more widely used
(and the only product approved by the FDA) is the Charite disc. The
Charite has several limitations. Its three-piece sliding plastic design
does not provide a great deal of stability. Also, those who have already
undergone back surgeries or who suffer extreme loss of disc space are not
considered good candidates for the Charite.
Many of the most cutting-edge
advancements in artificial disc replacement (ADR) have been made in
Europe. One such implant is the MAVERICK™ Artificial Disc. This two-piece
metal disc replacement is not only more stable than the Charite, but less
distraction of the vertebrae is required. The PRESTIGE™ Artificial
Cervical Disc System is another leap forward for ADR. This option allows
for a greater range of neck movement and mimics a more natural disc space
function.
Through GetADR.com, there are options

who have already undergone spinal fusion procedures. Improving your
quality of life through advanced surgical methods of ADR is our goal. When
other methods of treatment fail, GetADR.com can be your guide to
alternative advanced ways to minimize your pain and get you back on your
feet again.
