Stenum Hospital is now working with BlueCard WorldWide, an agent of BCBS
for the processing of International claims.
Please note: As with any medical procedure it is the
patients ultimate responsibility to pay the provider,
any patient out-of-pocket expenses or procedures not covered must be paid
directly to Stenum Hospital.
For those with BlueCross
and US Federal Employees
the following claims process is in place;

to confirm International coverage.

For Overseas Members
You can determine if you
have international coverage, and if so, setup a case
number. Provide this case number to Stenum Hospital.
Then, proceed with the diagnosis and evaluation process
to obtain the specific procedure required.
Contact Stenum Hospital
Once you have the specific procedure, contact WorldWide
again to confirm coverage of the specific procedure.
Upon admission, Stenum Hospital, will send a
request for authorization letter, through the BlueCard Worldwide Service Center,
to your carrier. If guarantee of coverage is obtained your surgery will proceed.
Please be prepared to pay
for your surgery should the carrier deny coverage.
Note; There is no
need to contact your local carrier, the entire process can be handled by the
WorldWide Service Center. Should you desire to confirm coverage directly with
your carrier the center can assist you in determining the appropriate contact.
For other carriers, use your plans
specific process for reimbursement or pre-approval.
In most cases you will be required to
pay in advance for treatment.
Many patients have found that procedures not
yet approved, or off-label indications, are reimbursed if the efficacy is
documented and presented by the patient post-op.
