Stenum Hospital is now working with BlueCard WorldWide, an agent of BCBS for the processing of International claims.

Please note: As with any medical procedure it is the patients ultimate responsibility to pay the provider, any patient out-of-pocket expenses or procedures not covered must be paid directly to Stenum Hospital.

For those with BlueCross and US Federal Employees the following claims process is in place;

Blue Cross

First, contact the BlueCard Worldwide Service Center 1.800.810.BLUE (2583), to confirm International coverage.

US Federal Employees,  go to

Click on Benefits For Overseas Members

You can determine if you have international coverage, and if so, setup a case number. Provide this case number to Stenum Hospital.

Then, proceed with the diagnosis and evaluation process to obtain the specific procedure required. Contact Stenum Hospital

Once you have the specific procedure, contact WorldWide again to confirm coverage of the specific procedure.

Upon admission, Stenum Hospital, will send a request for authorization letter, through the BlueCard Worldwide Service Center, to your carrier. If guarantee of coverage is obtained your surgery will proceed.

Please be prepared to pay for your surgery should the carrier deny coverage.

Note; There is no need to contact your local carrier, the entire process can be handled by the WorldWide Service Center. Should you desire to confirm coverage directly with your carrier the center can assist you in determining the appropriate contact.

For other carriers, use your plans specific process for reimbursement or pre-approval.

In most cases you will be required to pay in advance for treatment.

Many patients have found that procedures not yet approved, or off-label indications, are reimbursed if the efficacy is documented and presented by the patient post-op.
